    Prof. K.P. Singh, the 22nd Vice-Chancellor of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar has been given additional charge of the Vice-Chancellor of Haryana State University of  Horticultural sciences, Karnal which came into being under Haryana Act. No. 32 of 2016. He took over the charge as Founder Vice-Chancellor of this newly established University on 6th January 2017. An eminent scientist in the field of Biophysics, Prof. K.P. Singh is a person of positive outlook and firm determination.

    Being the first Vice-Chancellor, Prof. K.P. Singh shall endeavour to frame the university in shape to meet the demands of academic excellence and cutting edge research in Horticulture and allied sciences as per mandate and objectives of the Act. There is need to speed up the erection of infrastructure closely on land measuring 118 acre provided at village Anjanthali, Distt. Karnal. Since the said land is presently lying with open area, the required infrastructural facilities have to be created for making this new University functional. The University has set up its Camp Office at CCS Haryana Agricultural University Campus, Hisar on 21st January 2017.

    Prof. K.P. Singh, born on June 1, 1968, completed his M.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. in Biophysical Chemistry with flying colours from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. Further, he has done research on the structure elucidation of biomolecules, nanosignaling, targeted drug delivery and nanobiosensors at Technical University, Bratislava (Slovakia), Ruder Boskovic Institute, Croatia (Europe) and Cranfield University, U.K. He has about 17 years of rich experience in administration, institution building, teaching and training, research and development, and international cooperation. 

    Before joining as Vice-Chancellor on July 15, 2016 at CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Prof. K.P. Singh was working as Professor and Head of College of Basic Sciences and Humanities at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. Prof. Singh has also served on various key positions like Director, Uttarakhand Council for Bio-Technology, Department of Science, Technology and Biotechnology, Government of Uttarakhand and Director of G.B. Pant - Cranfield Research Centre at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. 

    As the Director of Uttarakhand Council for Bio-Technology (UCB), Prof. Singh contributed immensely to its overall development. Under his dynamic leadership, UCB established Centre of Excellence for Mountain Biology with state of the art laboratories in the areas of nano-biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, tissue culture etc. At UCB, Prof. Singh was instrumental in establishing international academic collaboration with USA, Australia and U.K. At G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Prof. Singh’s arduous efforts bore fruits when Biophysics Unit, of which he was the Head, established state of the art laboratories of international levels in the fields of nano-biotechnology, nano-biosensors, nano-medicine, nano-fertilisers etc.

    Prof. Singh has wide exposure to international programmes and also in handling international projects. He is widely travelled and has visited United Kingdom, USA, Slovakia and Croatia. He has been a visiting faculty to National Cancer Institute, USA; Stanford University, USA; Howard University, USA; Cranfield University, UK; Ruder Boskovich, Croatia; and Technical University, Bratislava. He has also participated in several international programmes/seminars/conferences as chairperson of technical sessions, group leader, invited speaker and delegate. He is also recipient of many awards including Young Scientist Award by Uttarakhand Council for Science and Technology, Department of Science and Technology, in 2007.
